There are so many people who are struggling with low self-esteem and lack of confidence. These two go hand in hand. When you have low self-esteem, you’re keeping yourself away from living the life you want to live. You are robbing yourself of joy, happiness, and inner peace.

Take it easy with Self-Criticism! Praise Yourself Instead!

There is an inner critic living inside of us trying to keep us small and safe, trying to find every little imperfection within ourselves. This critic stops us from living a full life. We can’t let this critic be in charge. We need to remember that we are already perfect, in our imperfections.

What if we shifted that inner critic to our nurturing friend? What if every time you wanted to criticize yourself, you praise yourself instead? It’s not selfish or arrogant to compliment oneself. You are not trying to convince someone else that you are worthy, you are telling that to yourself.

Take a minute and think: What can you praise yourself for? What did you do or say today or any other day that you can be proud of? Think of the words you wanted to hear when you were little and start saying these words to yourself. Don’t expect someone else to tell you that you matter. You need to matter for yourself.

We have a tendency to look for others’ approval. We ask others to meet our needs, and when they don’t – we feel miserable! Don’t give this power to anyone else. The only person who has to approve of you – is you!
