I have been asked this question so often that I thought you would benefit from me talking about it publicly. And the question is: “How do I know if this diet works for me?”

First of all, I would like to tell you that I really don’t like the word diet and the idea of a diet. Noone really stays on a diet forever (there are very few exceptions). And after they come off of a diet, they gain even more weight than they lost in the first place. Then, the word ‘diet’ itself is very negative. Look at the spelling of it: d-i-e-t… No wonder people hate diets! 🙂 I don’t encourage my clients ever to go on a diet.

But for the sake of this article, we will talk about diets because it’s such a common question. So when I get this question: “How do I know if this diet works for me?”

My answer is simple: “How do you feel after you started this diet? Do you have energy? Are you in a good mood or it seems like you are about to ‘tear someone apart’? How do you feel after you ate? Are you comfortable? Do you feel bloated, heavy, etc? How do you feel after 2 weeks, 1 month after eating this way?”

Whenever you are trying to figure out if something is good for you, ask yourself these questions above, after a few weeks of having this diet as part of your routine. And you will know your answer.

Health should be your #1 priority. And if whatever you are doing, diet or exercise, are going against your main priority – you should definitely stop doing that activity or routine.
